FOOT ORTHOTICS

Your feet are like the foundation of a well-built house. They provide you with stability and support, and are the structural base of a healthy body!

Following the same metaphor of a well-built foundation, if there are issues with the structural integrity of your body’s foundation (your feet), everything relying on the foundation could be compromised as well.

This is the reason why healthy feet are so important to the overall structural integrity of your body.

Almost all of us are born with perfect feet, by 20 years of age, close to 80% of individuals will be impacted with foot problems, even though you might not be aware of it.

What causes these various foot problems? Some of the most common causes include:

Inappropriate Footwear (Shoes which lack support, old shoes, or flip flops)

Not wearing shoes on hard floors or surfaces

Consistent long hours standing in the same spot or with inappropriate shoes or footwear with no support.

These are some of the most common problems which lead to foot problems.

HOW DO ORTHOTICS HELP?

Going back to the analogy of a strong “House Foundation”, custom orthotics are moulded to correct any misalignment of the feet and bring the structure of your feet back to their correct, natural, and healthy state.

As a result, they’ll naturally improve your posture and structural alignment, leading to better posture of your knees, hips, pelvis and spine. Moreover, they promote improved foot function and movement as well.

How Exactly Do They Do This?

Orthotics provide a host of functional benefits, some of the most important being:

They act as Shock Absorbers, reducing the vibrational impact in the soft tissue on the foot and leg.

They compensate for anatomical differences and help correct differences and imbalances resulting from differences in the length of legs.

They heighten sensory feedback between both the foot and the ground (This improves the functionality of the feet and reduces the risk of falls).

Although keep in mind, these are only a few of the functional benefits foot orthotics offer.
